No Longer Empty Announced as a Winner of the “Neighborhood Challenge” Initiative

Monday, January 19 2015

It was our honor to host last Thursday’s award ceremony of the Neighborhood Challenge by the Department of Small Business Services (SBS) and New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC).

SBS Commissioner Maria Torres-Springer and NYCEDC President Kyle Kimball announced the seven winners of the Neighborhood Challenge initiative during a press conference held at the Old Bronx Borough Courthouse—No Longer Empty’s next project site that was awarded one of the seven grants.

“The Neighborhood Challenge competition supports innovative and catalytic projects that solve small business challenges, generate local economic benefits, and turn neighborhood assets into valuable community resources,” said NYCEDC President Kyle Kimball. “These awardees are turning big ideas into even bigger realities in the streets of New York City.”

No Longer Empty extends its deepest thanks and gratitude to SBS, NYCEDC, and our project partner SoBRO (South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation). Their support of our spring exhibition will revive a beautiful historic building and engage with local residents and citywide visitors in the South Bronx.
