From the Borough: SELL OUT
No Longer Empty and Local Project 'SELL OUT', a night of performances gathered from an open call. SELL OUT will begin at 7:00pm.
This evening of site-responsive performances selected from an open call will address the idea of 'selling out' and performance art's relationship to money. As an ephemeral and non-object based art form, performance art has a unique relationship with value, money and commodification. It is therefore less worried about trends, political correctness, or the art market and can be more provocative, bold, and irreverent. This variety of performances, from sound pieces to boardroom style meetings, will look at this positioning of performance art in the art market, and will more broadly question monetary interactions that are usually taken for granted.
Performances in order of appearance:
Coralina Meyer, City of Today for Feminine Urbanism Investment Pitch
Ava Hassinger, Pennies from Heaven (My Weights Worth)
Renzo Ortega with Nicolas Behncke, Coin Crescendo
Maria Jose Duran Steinman and Andrea Lira, Ekeko
Marie Christine Katz with Ruth Phaneuf and Robert James Anderson - What's my Worth?
