Curator Talk & Tour : Art by the Water
Saturday, September 12 2015
1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
No Longer Empty Chief Curator Manon Slome will speak with visitors about Teresa Diehl’s Breathing Waters, an immersive video and sound installation that takes as a point of departure its location in lower Manhattan, at the confluence of the East and Hudson Rivers. Its fluid, water-inspired structure is comprised of thousands of floor-to-ceiling scrims of monofilament, onto which drops of resin, applied by hand, gleam in projected light like raindrops, or tears. Speaking about this site-specific installation, Slome will discuss its relevance to the location of the port and the meaning and themes behind Diehl’s multi-sensory work.
