Film "Variations" by artist Marinella Senatore

Friday, May 06 2011
7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Marinella Senatore’s film, “Variations,” draws on local residents and curious characters of the Lower East Side for its subject matter, creative direction and acting. In four episodes, each of which elaborates on the theme of the neighborhood from a different perspective, the film documents both its own filmmaking process and a series of fictional stories about the neighborhood.

The screening will be followed by a question and answer session.

Italian filmmaker and artist Marinella Senatore is a featured artist at the Venice Biennial this year.  Senatore creates site-specific, group film projects with communities around the world. In her past work, she has done Speak Easy, a film created and produced by 1,200 residents of Madrid, Spain. Over 400 residents of Trento, Italy, helped create All The Things I Need, a musical collaboration about the life of W. Bentley.
