Tour: Day of the Dead Walking

Corner of Fulton Street

Sunday, November 01 2015
4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Come hear stories of lives past and present in the Seaport Cultural District of lower Manhattan. Learn about the Mexican celebration Día de los Muertos and shrines built to honor the lives of those who’ve passed. Led by Doña Calaca, a comic story-teller from the 1800s, this tour will feature stories by candle-light and a taste of traditional pan de muerto.

The tour will start at 4:30pm, meeting at the waterfront of pier 17, corner of Fulton Street and FDR Drive. We will wind our way through the cobble-stoned streets of the Seaport, leaving a trail of flower petals behind as we walk a short distance to the interior of the labyrinth-like installation, Teresa Diehl: Breathing Waters (117 Beekman Street), where the tour will close with a toast to the lives of ancestors past at 5:30pm.
