The twentieth century has witnessed a succession of events that have transformed the way we think about humanity. But in what way have artists, curators and cultural institutions responded to these events? How have artists approached some of these pressing social issues and in what ways have they turned a mirror onto society and become its conscience?  This panel will focus on and address these questions and the synergy necessary to create social change through the arts.
