15 NLE Artists on the Move

Congratulations to NLE Community Artist, Rico Gatson, on his radiant new MTA mosaics in the 167th Street Subway Station. The series of portraits entitled, Beacons, celebrates Bronx icons such as Justice Sonia Sotomayor, James Baldwin, and Maya Angelou. These commanding murals are crafted in the same signature style as Gatson’s special NLE-commissioned print “Ms. Holiday.”

Gatson is the most recent addition to the family of NLE artists to create MTA Arts & Design commissions throughout the city. Take a look at the underground work of these 15 NLE artists. Do you recognize any from your commutes and adventures through our city’s arteries?
