Catherine Feliz

Lead Curator Educator for Y.Ex

Catherine Feliz is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, curator, medicine person, and doula, born and raised in Lenape territory (NYC) to parents from Kiskeya Ayiti (Dominican Republic). As a Curator, Catherine Feliz works to synthesize contemporary artist works and historical legacies in creative ways. Their recent curatorial projects include the group exhibition Mutant Dust Bunnies at Roots and Culture Contemporary Art Center in 2019, and BLACK FUTURES at SUNY Purchase in 2017.

Catherine was previously the Education Programs Assistant at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture where they advocated for the next generation of changer-makers by supporting the ongoing Junior Scholars and Teen Curators programs with archival research for curriculum writing, the production of youth programs such as the Black Lives Matter Teen Conference, and managing content for The Blackboard – a website they founded to share opportunities and resources for youth.
